   WHO AM I   

My name is Abdellatif Bakrim and I'm a Berber chef. My restaurant, Chez Sabir, opens seasonally (December-May) in the beautiful oasis town of Tafraout in the Anti-Atlas Mountains in Morocco's south-west.

I've been cooking all my life - for myself and others. In Morocco, everyone cooks: food is at the heart of our culture. Chez Sabir has been open since 2003, named for my brother Sabir, who is now working in Paris as a private chef. In 2005 I hosted a dinner for a group of British and Swedish walkers and climbers, among whom I was to find my future wife. Now we live for half the year in England - when the temperatures in our area of Morocco are too high for tourists - and return to run the restaurant in the winter months.
